20 Months Old!

Drew is 20 months old today. (yes today is also my 31st birthday, shhhh!) I guess when he turns 2 I will quit using the months to tell his age?

A little about Drew at 20 months old:
1. Every morning at 7:55 we listen for the yellow school bus to drive by our house. When we hear it coming, we run to the front door to see it go bye bye. (of course this ended now that it is summer)

2. Everything that is somewhat circular is a ball to Drew. Stop lights, car tires, the sun (in books), etc.

3. Every morning when he wakes up he asks "truck" and "trash" wondering if it is trash day or not. He loves to watch the truck come by to pick up all our garbage.

4. He loves our dog. He gives her far more hugs and kisses than we ever dream of seeing. Of course he pulls her, slaps her, bites her fur, and beats on her much more than he does to us as well!

5. Just in the last week he has learned to shake his head "yes" or "no" explaining what he needs/wants from us. We will ask him if he wants to go take a bath and he will shake his head "yes" (or run the other way, depending on his mood.)

6. He is now putting together 2 word-phrases. "Big Truck" is the most popular.

7. He knows all body parts when you ask and is now starting to be able to say them to us.

8. Every man he sees is "dad", it was a little embarrassing at one point, but now it is a joke to him. When he says it, we look at him and say "Drew, is that daddy?" and he says "Nooo" (in the cutest little voice) or most recently just starts laughing out loud when we ask him.

9. We watch Sesame Street every morning at 8:00 while we eat breakfast. Elmo is his favorite- along with cookie monster and the count.

10. We taught him to give "knuckles" after thinking it was so cute when a friend's son did it. He now gives knuckles, high fives and hand shakes.

11. He now loves to ask for "coke" and every time a drink has a straw he thinks it is coke. (bad pregnant mommy has been loving coke lately and nope, I don't deny my kid the finer things in life like a good ole' swig of coca cola)

12. Drew is a thumb sucker. No surprise since Will and I both were as kids. Drew loves to suck his thumb and snuggle with his blankie, just like his mommy used to do!

13. Drew loves being outside. We could just be playing with rocks or running around, the kid is always happy when outdoors.

14. The kid has a temper! Unfortunately when he doesn't like something he starts hitting or throwing. We are really working on this right now, yesterday morning we had 3 time outs by 8:20am. (and we only made it downstairs at 7:45am!)

15. He can be a great helper. When I ask him to hand me the remote, he goes and gets it. When I ask him to get his cup so I can get him more juice, he goes into the other room and gets it off the floor. He really does understand most everything we say/ask of him.

16. He is getting to be a better eater. It used to be a battle every mealtime. The kid just didn't like to eat! He weighs 25 lbs. and maybe me stressing a little less about it is making things better?

17. He used to call me "maaaaaw" like we lived on a farm in the country, he is just recently calling me "mommeeeeeee"! :)

18. We just cut his hair differently for the first time. It is shorter on top and we gel the front, no more off to the side. (all these pics are from 18 months, I will get some new hair do pics up soon!)

19. Drew loves to look at books. He would read with us all day if possible. Out of all his toys, his books are his favorite. My backseat has a ton of books, so we have them for the road. He mostly likes to point to things and have us explain. He is starting to babble on his own while "pretending to read" when he sits down by himself.

20. He knows most all of his animals and animal sounds. When we eat at Chick Fil' A, he loves to Mooo at all the cows in there!

We love you Drew. You are truly the best thing in our lives. We are amazed by watching you grow and learn each and every day. We can't wait to see how you are as a big brother to Camden this fall!
