The Science Place

We took a trip to the Science museum in Dallas last week with some buddies. Leyton, Jensen and Drew had fun playing and exploring all over the children's museum.

Bumbleride Me!

How much to spend on a double stroller is the question right now for me. When I first started shopping for a double, I absolutely did not want to buy another Peg Perego. I hate my Peg single because it is a bitch to steer. I wanted something different but also wanted my Peg car seat to still be able to work with it. We picked the Peg car seat for safety reasons. I think Britax still was #1 for infant seats (that is the type of toddler car seat that Drew has currently) but the Peg was still high on the list. Anyway, I loved when Drew was asleep that I could just snap him out of the car and into the stroller and pray he stayed asleep while I shopped or ran an errand. It is a short lived phase, but I still want my stroller to be compatible. Then we started looking and researching some more. Did I want to spend the money on the Bob? ($500+) Let's face it, I am not a jogger, and the Bob is THE jogging stroller... Then I found one by Kolcraft, called the contour, but I have been told that it is a cheap POS, and really it doesn't surprise me for $200 with how cool it looks, that it isn't made to last. So we went back and looked at Pegs again. The front/back version that matches the car seat is $800+, ridiculous! but I thought I wanted a front/back for the ease of getting through doorways/aisles/etc. Until I tried to push that sucker, whoah! So then we looked at the Peg side/side and it actually steered very easily and of course my car seat was adaptable. Ugh, ok. looks like I was going to spend $300 on this very average stroller.....UNTIL...I found this. The Bumbleride Indie Twin, I am in love! It has all the features that I was looking for, will adapt to the car seat, (but who cares because those foot muffs are so snugly she could sleep in there all day...or I could anyway!) but the question is... do we spend $600 on this gem? Money isn't quite flowing these days with the new house upon us, but...I really like it...stay tuned :)

All Framed!

WOW, we drove up to see our house Friday after Will got home from work and it was just about all the way framed. They started framing earlier this week and now they are practically done and ready to move on to the next step. I am not sure what the next step is, we get a call every Tuesday to let us know what lies ahead for the week. We stopped in to the model house to talk to our sales lady and apparently some of our new neighbors have called her to inquire about "what huge house" is going in next to them. Our house is not the largest house on the street, but I think our roof peaks make it seem bigger than it is. We were walking in the backyard (which is 2 1/2 time the size of our current yard) and we were just amazed at how big it seems. Right now they have us tentatively set to close the end of September. Hopefully we will at least have all our things under the roof before this baby girl arrives!

Memorial Day Weekend

Ahhhh, what a great long weekend with the family it was. Friday we drove up to see the house and have dinner at one of our favorite places. We got some cleaning and grocery shopping done when we got home so we could try to enjoy the rest of the weekend. Saturday we ran some errands and had steaks on the grill for dinner with pesto pasta and corn on the cob. Will makes the most amazing pesto sauce ever. I never order pesto if I am out to eat but the smell of fresh basil in the blender is the best, and corn on the cob is my favorite...I can't even tell you how many ears I ate (ok, 3!) Sunday we were supposed to be going to a cookout at our good friends' Steve and Rachael's. They had an unfortunate flooding experience with their downstairs. These damn toilets that they put in our homes, ugh!!! I thought we had it bad with 6-7 fans drying out our house for the 2nd time in a year...until I heard that they have something like 52 fans drying out their house. Needless to say, their cookout was cancelled. We decided to grill out here with a few friends. We blew up the bounce house and got out the little pool for the kids. Monday, after a much needed long family nap in the AM, we headed to our new neighborhood pool. Drew had a blast playing in the spray park area.
We surely enjoyed our 3 day weekend together, but never forgot the true meaning of this weekend. Our red, white, and blue hung with pride.

Thanks to all our military men and women who serve this great land. We appreciate you.

18 Months (and counting...)

We recently had some family photos done, even though it won't be our complete family come fall. It was worth it to get some great shots of Drew at this amazingly cute stage. Here was the blog on our photographer's site...

running behind on blogging... again
Here is Drew... we had so much fun on Saturday! He started off serious, but towards the end he started laughing and smiling all over the place thanks to his knowledge of body parts! :P I have a lot of favorites so there are quite a few on here. I can't wait to see this family again! They are expecting a new addition in about 6 months. Enjoy!

Lake Days...

I hope all our days at the lake this summer are as relaxing and fun as this past weekend. We decided to skip morning nap so we could head out to the lake with Uncle Steve and Auntie Rachael, and all 3 muts of course! The one thing we have to be really careful about when going to the lake is red ants. There are no sandy beaches, just grassy areas and then the mud into the lake...gotta love Texas lakes. Even though we forgot the spray we usually bring, luckily they stayed away from all of us. Drew played and splashed in the water with no fear. The water is still too cold for any of the adults to fully get in, but Drew had fun playing anyway. He went for a jet ski ride with daddy! Luckily his life vest from last year looks like it will fit all through this summer too. He seemed to have a good time and was on there for about 15 minutes. The thing that cracked me up was when Will and Drew got back, Drew was still holiding the chip he had in his hand when he got on the jet ski! He wouldn't nap in my arms at the lake, but willingly sat in my lap for over an hour and ate snacks while everyone got to chat while sitting in the shade.

New Home Construction

We drove up to the new house this afternoon to see if any progress had been made. We knew they were supposed to pour the foundation early this week but with a plumbing/kitchen change we made late in the game, and rainy weather for 2 days, we assumed it was delayed. We drove up there and were soooo excited to see that the foundation was poured yesterday and they were taking down the wood forms that were there. Next step is framing the house! That should start early next week and is done in about 7-10 days, WOW, all of the sudden we are making some progress! We just hope to be in by the time this baby girl arrives! Now, we just have to sell our current house, ugh!

Playgroup at the Arboretum

Monday we went to the Dallas Arboretum with a few friends from our playgroup. It was a beautiful day and we really enjoyed being outside in this great spring weather. We got to pet a goat and a sheep, Drew got to see yet another fire truck. We had lunch on our blanket and listened to KinderMusik while we ate, then we walked around and enjoyed some of the great fountains there. We decided to join the Arboretum this year since we seem to like going there so much. Especially in the fall for their pumpkin fest. It takes us about 45-50 minutes to get there, but it is always worth the drive. I got to play with my new lens again today and BOY I am loving it! The colors and brightness of it are just amazing!

Mother's Day

Mother's day this year definitely beat last year's. Last year Drew was only 6 1/2 months old and we spent that weekend with a sick child. He would.not.sleep in his crib. Will and I took turns sleeping with him on the couch for two nights. Monday morning we learned that he had an ear infection. His first illness, his first ear infection, and it was.not.fun! We were supposed to meet the VanEpps' and Yanelli's at the Arboretum for lunch but we kept our sick baby home.

This year we all had breakfast together, french toast...yum! After Drew's nap we went on a family picnic to the Grapevine Botanical Gardens. It was such a treat to be able to use Drew's nap time to shower leisurely and not have to prepare a single thing for lunch. Will packed homemade chicken salad sandwiches with grapes for me, my favorite! He had chocolate covered strawberries and lots of other great snacks. We enjoyed some beautiful weather. So beautiful I didn't realize my legs were getting fried in the sun. Thank goodness we were smart enough to get Drew sun blocked early. It was a really nice day. I love being a mom to this little guy and little girl on the way!
