5 Months Old!

Camden, my sweet daughter-
Is it seriously possible that you are already 5 months old? About to get teeth, about to start eating cereal? Amazing. I feel like I gave birth to you just last month, and already you are rolling over and not too far away from sitting up! You continue to be such a great baby. Smiling all the time and rarely fussy. You are starting to get a little more particular about where you sleep though. We have stopped all (most) sleeping in the swing and you are napping in your bassinet and still sleeping in there too. You are getting big for it, so we better really get serious about sleeping through the night so you can go upstairs ok? Otherwise we might have to move you into the pack n'play! You don't really like to sleep in our arms or the swing anymore. When you are in your bassinet, you look around and I think feel comforted because you are in your bed and you know where you are. You still sleep pretty well in the car too thank goodness. We still can't tell what color your eyes are going to be. When Drew was this age, we could tell for sure that his eyes were going to be blue. Dr. R. says he thinks yours might change to brown, they are a bluish/greenish color with brown flex in them right now.
You rolled over for the first time earlier this month. Now almost everytime I give you tummy time, you flip to your back pretty quickly. You still haven't made it to your belly from your back. Mommy went out 2 times this past month and left you home with a bottle from daddy. You hadn't had a bottle in a very long time. You weren't too sure about it either time, but ended up taking it for daddy. Mommy enjoyed some much needed time out with the girls!
Still just nursing you...and you still seem to be very sensitive to dairy. You are a very gasy baby too. Hopefully you will outgrow the dairy sensitivity and the reflux just like your big bro' did.
We also had your Baptism just a few days ago and we had lots of family from back East come down for it. It was an eventful day with your sick brother attached to our legs all day!
You are really grabbing at toys and rattles that we put in front of you, and everything goes straight to your mouth. You love to suck on your hands and thumb too, I wonder if you will end up a thumb sucker like your bro'.
Mommy is getting more anxious about a schedule for you. You are still waking 1-2 times at night to nurse :( now that you are going to bed between 7-8pm. You are also still nursing about 6 times during the day and still taking about 4 naps. I would like you start taking 3 longer naps instead of all these little cat naps. You do your longest nap in the afternoon when Drew is sleeping, so that usually works out for mommy.
Thanks to your Grandma's, you now have sooo many cute clothes to wear this summer. Who knew it was going to be so fun dressing a little girl!
You are my sunshine sweet Camden Reese. I love you.

Bye Bye Furniture

Well, finally our children are going to have the furniture in their rooms complete! By the time we got Camden's room painted and all her furniture delivered it was mid November (having moved in the house in Sept and having her in Oct) BUT shortly after that, she lost her crib to her big brother! His furniture was recalled due to LEAD PAINT. YES, you read that correctly! The furniture that my baby boy had gnawed on while teething had lead paint in it. This happened Dec 23rd, just in time to taint our holiday season just a little bit. We had a lead test done at his pediatrician's office. The government says under 10ppm (parts per million) is acceptable but that under 5ppm is preferable, luckily Drew's was under 3ppm! I recently followed up with our pedi about it and asked him if I should have any concerns that at one time lead could have been in his system, and he assured me that Drew is fine and that lead remains in your while blood cells, so I would be aware if it had occured. I sure think someone was watching over him while he sucked on that crib. There were times I would get him up from a nap and he would have black paint on his face! I guess it was the red paint under the scrapings that actually had the lead in it.
In any case, we get all new furniture delivered for him on Friday and finally Camden can start taking some naps in her room!

Kid Friendly Weekend

I am happy to say, this weekend was all about the kids. Mostly Drew. We didn't have a long "to do" list like so many of our weekends. We didn't have heavy cleaning to do, or a lot of errands to run. We got to spend some quality family time together! Saturday we had to go to Grapevine Mills (just one store to go to!) so afterwards we took Drew to the Rainforest Cafe for the first time. Besides the talking tree which scared him, he loved it! He loved waiting for the elephants and gorillas to make their noise! He liked looking at the stars on the ceiling, and watching the rain fall behind us. He also enjoyed seeing his buddy Nemo in the fish tank in front of our table. He got a couple place mats and a fun animal swirly straw to help him remember his first trip. Grandma and Grandpa (and their good friends from back east) were there too. Camden enjoyed the view from the bjorn for most of the time, until she fell asleep so we could eat :)
Then today we took them to see Sesame Street Live, Elmo's Green Thumb. He looooves Elmo, and he certainly was not disappointed today. We met his friend Sam there, and the boys were entertained for the entire show. Drew turned down the cotton candy we got him for his pretzels that we brought from home! He loves his new Elmo light toy and balloon that he got to take home with us. I think Camden had almost as much fun as the big boys did. She watched the show pretty intently for awhile, and then the sweet girl slept for the rest of it. The lady behind us commented to me that she was surprised that my baby was watching the show!

great seats today!
